The actions of businesses are crucial to our success in addressing the climate and ecological emergency.
In the current economic climate and cost-of-living crisis, the connection between decarbonisation and economic resilience/growth has never been so strong. Payback times for low carbon solutions have been dramatically reduced by rising energy prices, increasing demand in supply chains and markets.
Many businesses are unsure what their path to net-zero could look like. Our programmes aim to provide end-to-end support, from engagement and specialist advice to financial support to take action.
The climate and ecological emergency is also an opportunity to reshape and grow our region’s economy. With the right support, local businesses can develop and export low carbon products and services and transform the way they operate.
For many, working during hot days can make workplace conditions challenging and uncomfortable. Air conditioning can seem like an easy fix, but they can increase your energy usage and your energy bills. Alternatively, there are some quick and easy actions you can make to keep your premises comfortable during a heatwave, some of which can be achieved for little or no cost.
We can help you look at your premises, assess your businesses operations, and identify ways you can decrease the ambient temperature while keeping your bills under control. This could include upgrading your insulation, which will protect your business against both heat in the summer, and cold in the winter. Increasing ventilation can also increase staff comfort at a fraction of the cost of air conditioning. This can be as simple as opening windows to encourage fresh air in, or by using fans and mechanical ventilation systems to create air movement. Behavioural actions, such as working away from direct sunlight or adjusting your dress code to allow staff to adapt to variable working temperatures, can also be an effective way of making a workspace much more comfortable.
