Helen Godwin is the new Mayor of the West of England, after being duly elected in the election on 1 May 2025.
I was born in our region, grew up in Stapleton, went to school in Cotham and college in Filton, and have worked across our region including as a local councillor and in business.
My family are spread across the West Country and I’m raising my children in Bristol.
I know what makes us all proud to live here. Our access to green spaces, our cultural offer, and our ability to innovate. That’s the story that we need to tell better as a region, celebrating our success and securing new investment from national government and from around the world.
I’m committed to bringing people together to get things done, across Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, and South Gloucestershire.
It’s my reputation in both business and politics, including working with Mayors from around the UK. This collaborative approach is how, together, we will transform the West of England’s immense potential into reality. I’ve started as I mean to go on, working cross-party.
My priorities are clear:
As a local voice working with the Labour government, I’ll work to secure the investment our region deserves.
It’s the start of a new chapter for the West of England.
