West of England Regional Transport Model
The West of England Regional Transport Model (WERTM) has been developed to enable a better understanding of movements throughout the region.
What is the West of England Regional Transport Model?
The model is an evidence-based forecasting tool used to assess the impacts of land use developments, transport schemes and policies on the local transport network. It provides the Combined Authority, Local authorities and decision makers with a tool to assist in making decisions and provide evidence to support transport and development schemes.
WERTM is a strategic transport model for the West of England and incorporates the following suite of models:
- A Highway Assignment Model (HAM) in SATURN software
- A Public Transport Assignment Model (PTAM) in VISUM software
- A Variable Demand Model (VDM) in VISUM software.
WERTM is available to public authorities, developers and other third parties. If you would like to discuss using the model for your project, please get in touch with the Transport Strategy team via WERTM@westofengland-ca.gov.uk.
