The partnership, signed by Mayor Helen Godwin in 2025, signals a long-term commitment to deliver locally-led goals and unlocks new opportunities for investment and delivery across the Mayoral Combined Authority region.
To support the delivery, the Combined Authority has been awarded £1m from Homes England to drive forward strategically important development projects in the region, including around Hicks Gate and the St Philips Marsh Masterplan at the Bristol Temple Quarter development.
The Strategic Place Partnership and the funding that underpins it represents a step change in how we work together. The challenges we face, from housing affordability to climate change are significant, but pale in comparison to the opportunities.
The Partnership is further underpinned by a Business Plan, launched in March 2026, that sets out how the two organisations will work together, as well as with their key partners, to accelerate growth in the West of England while continuing to work on their individual priority projects like Bristol Temple Quarter.
