Our approach to the space sector

Our approach combines opportunities for growing the space sector with new technologies that address social and environmental challenges. We are focusing our work on these four areas:

  1. Space for Climate and Net Zero
  2. Space Infrastructure, Safety and Sustainability
  3. Space for National Security and Defence
  4. Space for Smarter Local Government

Through a series of targeted projects, we want to develop our capability, talent, enterprise, and investment in this important and expanding industry.

Who are we working with?

We developed our strategy and approach alongside the UK Space Agency, Satellite Applications Catapult and our project partners.

These include West of England businesses, the Centre for Modelling and Simulation (CFMS), the National Composites Centre (NCC), the University of Bristol and the University of Bath.

Our vision is for the West of England to be known globally for its thriving space sector. We also want to use our work in this area to address local, national and international challenges – for society and the economy.
