Access

We are a leading Smart City.

We believe that everyone should be able to access high-quality digital resources and benefit from fast, reliable broadband coverage – irrespective of their location or income.

Even in areas with good broadband coverage, we’re aware that the cost of accessing digital services, devices and data can make it difficult for people (also known as digital poverty). We would like to see this change.

The impact of the pandemic has been unprecedented. Our collective and rapid transition to digital during lockdowns, for all its benefits, is excluding people: 5% of the population remain digitally excluded (2.6 million people in the UK).
