We are working to address the ecological emergency and helping nature recover from the impact of human behaviours and changes.
We want our region to the be UK Bee & Pollinator Capital, with a range of habitats and spaces for our bees and wildlife to flourish. Our programmes are working to support this.
Bee Bigger and Better – together we need to protect, enhance, expand and connect space for nature so that pollinators and other crucial species can recover and thrive .
Bee Mindful – we all need to reduce and eliminate harmful pesticides on our green spaces, avoid habitat destruction and loss, and consider the wider impact of our use of natural materials.
Bee Proud – we can celebrate the great work already being done by organisations and communities in our cities, towns and villages, and make sure that everyone has the chance to access nature and play their part in our ambition to support the region’s pollinators.
Tackling the ecological emergency is just as important as taking action on the climate emergency. Our Climate and Ecological Strategy and Action Plan sets the ambition for nature to be in recovery by 2030 and increase the abundance of wildlife by 30% in 2030.
