Are you looking for employment or considering an exciting career change as a bus, coach or HGV driver? These courses are designed to help you secure a job or make a career change.

Skills Bootcamps Available

This bootcamp is funded by the Mayoral Priority Skills Fund.

Delivered by Weston College, this course is suitable for people who are wanting to find employment or those who want a new and exciting career change as a Bus/Coach driver.

The aim of this course is to help learners gain their PCV Cat D Licence which will allow them to drive a Bus or Coach with more than 16 passengers and with trailers up to 750kg.

Learners don’t need any previous experience, or qualifications, but to be eligible they must be unemployed and have a current driving licence.

During the course learners will complete a bespoke range of industry specific employability skills, as well as gaining customer service skills and driver training.

Learners will have an opportunity to pass their drivers medical, apply for their provisional licence, and then learn the Online Drivers Theory information before taking the relevant exams.

Once all elements are passed, learners will complete their Practical Driver Training at our Weston College’s Construction Training Centre in Weston-Super-Mare, where they will complete 20 hours driving, 4 hours reversing and 4 hours Drivers CPC Module 4 training before taking the exam.

On successful completion of the course, we will offer a guaranteed interview with one of our employer partners.

Learners will also benefit from the support of a dedicated member of staff at the beginning of their Bootcamp who will be Solely responsible to help support them every step of way. They will keep learners informed of the latest jobs in the Bus/Coach sector, support them with applying for jobs that they are interested in, supporting the updating of their CV, so it's always up to date, and help with preparing for an interview.
