You should have aspirations for a career in the creative industries using digital technology, be looking to use the skills learnt to set up a self-employed business, or looking to secure new work.

You may be interested in web design, UX/UI design, agile project management or app development. While some previous knowledge is desirable, the most important factor is a positive mindset.

You must:

  • Be aged 19+
  • Be living in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire or North Somerset
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK
  • Agree to provide mandatory personal data and supplementary information on your career outcomes for up to eight months following completion of the Skills Bootcamp
  • Not have completed a Skills Bootcamp funded by the Department for Education (DfE) in the last 12 months

What will you learn?

In this ten week theory and practical based Level 3 Skills Bootcamp in UI/UX Design, you’ll develop the fundamental skills to start your journey as a User Interface (UI) /User Experience (UX) Designer, set yourself up as self-employed or help you secure new freelance work.

You'll learn how to use industry standard tools to realise your ideas and answer problems when working on industry briefs and challenges and explore key aspects of the design process.

How will you learn?

Teaching will take place online, with the opportunity to attend in person workshops, which will be outlined to you within your first week. You'll receive six hours of compulsory online teaching a week.

You'll also have the opportunity to attend an optional Figma practical session every week from week two of your course, this will be one hour in length on a Wednesday. You'll be taught by highly experienced lecturers and also benefit from guest speakers, group exercises, and online learning.

Next Gen Skills Academy

Summary and entry requirements

This opportunity is designed for individuals aged 19+ who already have intermediate 3D animation skills and who want to enter the animation industry. Eligible participants will already live in the West England Combined Authority region, or have serious intent to live and work here. This Skills Bootcamp is a perfect fit for recent animation graduates and those with self-taught skills who are ready to take their passion to the professional level.

Previous experience using Blender to create 3D animation will be an advantage, but if you have transferrable skills and experience using another programme then you're still encouraged to apply.

What will you learn?

This comprehensive Skills Bootcamp will give you an understanding of the animation pipeline, from receiving the initial creative brief through to delivery. You will specialise in 3D character animation and other specific areas that align with employer skills needs, all while receiving guided support.

By the end of this 10-week journey, you'll gain a deep understanding of the animation industry, enhance your technical skills, acquire real experience in the animation production pipeline, and build an impressive portfolio of work.

How will you learn?

The Skills Bootcamp spans ten weeks, with three hours of remote guided learning each week. Additionally, participants are expected to dedicate three hours to independent work.

There will also be some in-person events (dates TBC), ensuring that you get to connect with fellow participants.
You will work on the NextGen RISE platform, this simulates the animation studio pipeline all within one platform. Effective team communication will be facilitated through dedicated Discord servers.

This opportunity is designed for individuals aged 19+ who already have some hands on experience with Unreal and who want to enter the visualisation, games, animation and VFX industries. Eligible participants will already live in the West England Combined Authority region, or have serious intent to live and work here. This Skills Bootcamp is a perfect fit for recent graduates and those with self-taught skills who are ready to take their passion to the professional level.

Previous experience using Unreal to create either immersive environments, games, animations or VFX will be an advantage, but if you have transferrable skills and experience using another programme then you're still encouraged to apply.

What will you learn?

This curriculum plan is for an Unreal Engine course for professionals in 3D animation and visualisation studios who will focus on lighting, rendering, and VFX for entertainment and immersive environments. Both foundational concepts and advanced techniques are covered. Case studies and industry applications are introduced early in the course (week 3) to give learners a broad and early view of where the skills they are developing can be applied in job roles.

The Skills Bootcamp spans 16 weeks, with three hours of remote guided learning each week. Additionally, participants are expected to dedicate three hours to independent work.

This Skills Bootcamp is a perfect fit for recent graduates and those with self-taught skills who are ready to take their passion to the professional level.

What will you learn?

Both foundational concepts and advanced techniques are covered. Summary

Our Skills Bootcamp for Future Leaders is designed to empower current and aspiring leaders to excel in senior management roles. We will provide cutting-edge training in leadership, strategic thinking, business management, and innovation.

Entry requirements

Be aged 19+ Live or work for an organisation based in in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Bath and North East Somerset or North Somerset. Not currently be in full-time or part-time education. Have the right to live and work in the UK. Have not registered and attended (including partial completion) any other Skills Bootcamp since April 2024 from any provider. Work for an SME employer who has agreed for you to attend and achieve the required outcomes.

What you'll learn

Our Skills Bootcamp is structured through a mixture of live tutor led interactive sessions, lunchtime learner forum and self-study resources. Alongside this, learners will be supported by an industry mentor who has extensive experience of working in a senior leadership position within the creative industries and our Career Coach who will work with you to reflect on your personal career aspirations and help build a roadmap to achieving these.

Across the ten weeks you will explore topics including:

How you'll learn

Live sessions will take place in-person at Frenchay Campus, Bristol from 09:30-13:30 for 10 weeks from January 2025. Lunchtime forum sessions will take place online (via Teams) from 12:30-14:00. Alongside these sessions, learners will be required to undertake self-study activity and 1-2-1 career coaching sessions.
