Weston College supporting SMEs to Build Back Better

Weston College is launching a new series of fully funded training workshops for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) based in the West of England. Part of the West of England Combined Authority's Workforce for the Future project, co-funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), the free online workshops will support employers to ‘Build Back Better’ and provide training from industry experts with topical themes such as business sustainability, using social media for business growth, maximising your website, and creating an inclusive workforce.

Recognising that many employers are evolving their business as they move through the pandemic, the 'Build Back Better’ series will provide fully funded training workshops, designed to address topical challenges that many businesses need to address. These specialist, non-accredited workshops will be delivered by industry specialists and cover topics that many employers see as fundamental to growth during and following the pandemic. In addition to attending workshops, employers will be offered additional support by the College including students supporting projects, additional bespoke training, and opportunities for employers to access new talent through trainees and apprentices.

Newly elected West of England Metro Mayor Dan Norris said: "As our region recovers from the pandemic, it’s so important that local people can access first rate training. We are not going to be doing things the same as before, and businesses are adapting. As a 'jobs-first' Metro Mayor, I welcome this timely 'Workforce for the Future’ project being delivered by Weston College. I am determined that more local people have access to the skills training they need – whether to enter the jobs market, switch careers or learn on the job."

Weston College Principal and Chief Executive, Dr Paul Phillips CBE, said: “Weston College has a track record of supporting SMEs across the West of England, and we are delighted to be adding the ‘Build Back Better’ series for employers working with us through the Workforce for the Future initiative.

"Build Back Better will support employers to navigate through topical themes, such as ‘social media for business growth', which I know will be beneficial for employers across the region.

"We look forward to working with industry partners, and the West of England Combined Authority to support businesses through this project – delivering our mission of creating brighter futures."
