The West of England Joint Committee will consider investing in a number of projects to boost economic growth when it meets at The Kingswood Centre in South Gloucestershire on Friday July 27, at 1pm.
The Joint Committee is the decision-making body for issues relating to the West of England Combined Authority, Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire councils, and the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
The committee will discuss allocating £1.75 million, from the Local Growth Fund, towards a scheme being led by North Somerset Council to make sustainable travel improvements in Weston-super-Mare town centre. This would include better pedestrian and cycling facilities, changes to the road layout and bus stop improvements in South Parade.
A request for £430,000 from the Centre for Modelling and Simulation for an artificial intelligence laboratory at the Bristol & Bath Science Park will also be discussed. The recommendation is that this should be added to the list of schemes seeking investment through the Local Growth Fund, should further funding become available.
The meeting will be webcast live at www.westofengland-ca.gov.uk/meetings/ Meeting papers can also be found on this page.
