The next meeting of the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) Committee will take place on Friday 4 October, at 10am, at Kingswood Civic Centre.
The Combined Authority is chaired by Regional Mayor, Tim Bowles, and is made up of the leaders and Mayor from its three member councils – Bath & North East Somerset (Leader, Cllr Dine Romero), Bristol City Council (Mayor Marvin Rees) and South Gloucestershire Council (Leader, Cllr Toby Savage – who is also Deputy Regional Mayor). The Chair of the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), Professor Steve West, also attends committee meetings.
West of England Mayor, Tim Bowles, said: “We’ll be discussing investing in some major projects to benefit residents across our region. This will include extending our Future Bright skills scheme – which is already helping residents in work and on benefits to improve their job prospects, security and income – and using our Land Acquisition Fund to make sure more new homes are built.”
The WECA committee will be followed by a meeting of the West of England Joint Committee, the decision-making body for issues relating to the West of England Combined Authority, Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire councils, and the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership. This is scheduled for 11.30am.
The WECA Overview & Scrutiny Committee will meet in advance of the committees at The Guildhall, Bath, on Wednesday 2 October at 10.30am.
