The next meeting of the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) Overview and Scrutiny Committee will take place in Kingswood Civic Centre on Wednesday 23 January at 10.30am.
The Committee will receive a report and presentation on the draft Energy Strategy, which aims to work towards a diverse, resilient and affordable energy system that enables economic growth and reduces greenhouse emissions. The Committee will be invited to submit comments on the draft Energy Strategy to the West of England Joint Committee, which meets on 1 February to agree the strategy, prior to submission to the Department for Business Environment and Industrial Strategy. The Scrutiny Committee will also be receiving an update on investment priorities.
The Overview and Scrutiny Committee, made up of 11 members from the across the Combined Authority region, is chaired by Cllr Stephen Clarke (Bristol City Council).
WECA continues to work closely with North Somerset Council, building on a legacy of successful joint working between the four authorities. The part of the meeting attended by North Somerset councillors will hear an update on metrobus from Bristol City Council, and a MetroWest update from North Somerset Council and the WECA transport team.
