Following Sunday's proclamations across the West of England, the Metro Mayor of the West of England, who attended the Bath ceremony, has welcomed the accession to the throne of His Majesty King Charles III.
Metro Mayor Dan Norris said: “It has been a momentous few days for our region and nation. The death of her Majesty The Queen is also a significant personal loss for the Royal Family and our thoughts are with them. We all know grief from our own experiences and so appreciate the particular demands on our new King at this challenging time.
"As I witnessed a moment in history at the Bath proclamation of King Charles III, it felt like a time to both look forwards and back; to think about the big changes that have happened and are yet to come and how our people have the character and resolve to rise to the most difficult challenges. I'm optimistic that under our new King we can shape a brighter future for all our citizens."
