Metro Mayor launches Easter extravaganza at Radstock Museum

Metro Mayor Dan Norris launching the Easter Egg hunt with the help of Ivy (2) at Radstock Museum

West of England Metro Mayor Dan Norris officially launched the Great Museum Easter Egg Hunt, running from Saturday 9 April to Sunday 24 April, at the award-winning Radstock Museum as part of his ongoing campaign to encourage local people to rediscover our amazing region.

The Mayor’s ‘Love Local. Explore Local’ campaign is seeking to tempt people from right across the West of England to visit the region’s many fantastic cultural and tourism attractions, including its ‘hidden gems’ like Radstock Museum.

The free Easter Egg hunt is open to all children who need to find the hidden painted eggs to win a chocolate prize.

Home to an array of fun family activities, the museum is packed with attractions and things to do, including its many interactive and hands-on displays and local exhibitions.

Before embarking on the test hunt, the Mayor met museum Treasurer, Jos Binns, to discuss how local attractions, like Radstock Museum, are vital to the region’s overall visitor economy. The Mayor said: “Easter is nearly here, and what better way to spend it than taking part in some egg-stra special egg hunting fun in the spring sunshine. Radstock Museum is one of my favourite places to visit for a really interesting and fun day out. As someone who comes from a family of miners, I think it’s so important that everyone understands our rich and often dangerous mining heritage.”
