Mayors roar on Lionesses ahead of final
Four of England’s regional Mayors are roaring on the Lionesses ahead of today’s final in Basel, Switzerland, with footballs and England shirts featured in a new joint video shared earlier on social media.
Helen Godwin, the new Mayor of the West of England; Tracy Brabin, the Mayor of West Yorkshire; Kim McGuinness, the Mayor of the North East; and Claire Ward, the Mayor of the East Midlands, together say:
“For the third tournament in a row, our Lionesses are in the final.
“Good times never seemed so good... So good... So good!
“The Lionesses have inspired our whole country.
“More and more women and girls are playing football than ever before, with more investment in our national game.
“And we're all so, so proud.
“Today, kicking off at five o'clock, there's one more game to go for England to be back-to-back European Champions.
“We still believe, no more need for dreaming.
“We will be roaring the Lionesses on in West Yorkshire, the North East, the West of England, the East Midlands…
“For football to come home again.
“Come on England!”
