West of England Mayor, Dan Norris, will get a sneak peek of ‘Evolution’ from the artists behind drone shows at Eurovision 2023 and other big events (tomorrow Wednesday 29 November at 4pm), and even push the big red button to start the preview show attended by some 200 residents.
Evolution will be performed in the skies above Seat Unique Stadium on Thursday 21 December.
500 mini drones will create pictures above the stadium accompanied by a cinema style soundtrack. Starting with the Big Bang, the show will take spectators through the story of evolution including the dinosaurs and the creation of civilisations large and small.
Bristol is one of just two cities selected for the show.
Mr Norris said: “I’m proud Bristol is one of just two cities that will be holding the Evolution drone show telling the magical story of evolution - from the Big Bang right through to the reign of dinosaurs. It’s one of the biggest light shows to come to the city ever.
"It just goes to show that when it comes to attracting the country's biggest and best creatives, we're right up there leading.
“And it shows how many amazing things we have to do right here on our doorstep. So one again, whether its Christmas shopping galore at Broadmead market, or taking the rare opportunity to see a spectacular done show in Brislington, I urge Bristolians get out there and rediscover all the city, and our amazing region, has to offer.”
Mr Norris runs the West of England Explore Local tourism campaign.
