Grant helps Bristol-based brewery to grow

Dan Norris and Bruce Grey at the Left Handed Giant pub

Metro Mayor Dan Norris paid a visit to one of the world’s top new breweries to see for himself how a grant from the West of England Combined Authority, which he leads, has helped the business grow.

The Mayor toured the Left Handed Giant’s taproom in Bristol and heard from brewer Bruce Grey how the cash injection had enabled the community-owned brewery to invest in a new commercial bottling line.

Dan Norris said: “I know how difficult the pandemic has been for many hospitality businesses in the West of England – but here we can see that success is really brewing. This is a great local success story that is being noticed at a global level and that is really helping put our amazing area on the map.”

The Left Handed Giant, which was recently named as one of the top ten new breweries in the world in a RateBeer website survey, is now expanding its range of barrel-aged beers with the first bottles off the new production line being a fruity flavoured tipple called ‘Blender’.
