Toilet facilities at a Warmley museum have been given a makeover - thanks to funding from West of England Mayor Dan Norris.

Tucked away on Tower Lane, and run by a team of volunteers, Kingswood Heritage Museum opened its doors and loos nearly 30 years ago. That means they were in dire need of a 2024 facelift, Chair Rodney Stone explained to Mr Norris.

Now thanks to a £22,000 cash injection, the museum is flush with success. The toilets are getting a full revamp, with new energy efficient lighting and heating, a new water heating system, insulation, a lick of paint, and more.

Dan Norris, West of England Mayor, who officially opened the Ladies loo, said: "We needed to spend a penny, and some pounds, on upgrading the loos here at Kingswood Heritage Museum!

"I’m passionate about our community museums which are such an important part of local areas."

Funding from the Mayor has also seen the museum install four new display cabinets complete with LED lighting to bring the museum’s artefacts to life, as well as new matching museum display boards plus a brand-new projector, screen and laptop for the museum’s monthly local history talks.

Rodney Stone, Kingswood Heritage Museum Chair, added: “The Museum welcomes the funding from the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority to help us with our plans to become more sustainable and inclusive and also to enhance our visitor experience.”

Following the ladies revamp, the gents set to be open by the summer.

The grant is part of a £140,000 mayoral fund designed to support local museums across the West of England.
