Union Learn West brings gardening business into the blogosphere

Community has received funding from the MPSF Mayoral Priority Skills Fund to establish the Union Learn West project (ULWp) aimed at supporting those currently in employment across the West of England region to develop further learning and skills that will support them with in-work progression, or retrain while remaining in employment.

With a background IT and computers, MC is now an RHS Qualified Gardener and has been working across Bristol since May 2021.

Living in the project area, we reached out to MC who is a former Community union member, letting him know about the ULWp and the support we’re able to offer him. MC chose to enrol in the Staff Skills Academy and through this online platform has enrolled in the “Blog Creation and Management Certification” course. When asked why this particular course, MC says that blogs are “important to do now for businesses” and the course has helped him to “set the tone, content, and style of the blog”.

The course helped me set the tone, content, and style of the blog.

MC

Featuring a blog on his website will increase the websites visibility through SEO, but also builds up trust and expertise. MC demonstrates strong expertise and is keen to share his thoughts on soil prep, seasonal planting guides, and pest control. All of this will allow him to stand out from his competitors, and nurture new leads that will grow his business.

Working as a busy gardener the Staff Skills Academy supports his decision to study blog creation in his own time, allowing him to balance studying with other commitments and of course a busy gardening schedule.

“I’d recommend the Blog Creation and Management certification, it’s very accessible and easy to follow”

MC

Community is looking forward to supporting MC complete this course in the near future, and reading what he gets up to in gardens around Bristol.
