Grant empowers Cai Burton to improve arts access
Cai Burton is a self-taught artist and Creative Coach, with this project focusing on supporting artists with securing Arts Council England funding.
Through the Creative Freelancers Grant Cai was able to expand his training and research to better understand the lived experience of artists living with ADHD, Autism, CFS, and ongoing long-term health conditions.
The research helped form the foundation of his support work.
Cai has run trial support sessions with artists living with additional mental/physical barriers and learn about their difficulties when applying for funding.
These sessions ran from March-May 2025, allowing him to gain valuable insight into how his support work can make a difference.
How did the Creative Freelancer Grant help?
Through the project, not only has Cai has helped numerous artists apply for grant funding but also coaching them to focus on meaningful goals and turn concepts into actionable strategies to further their career.
I am deeply appreciative of the exceptional support provided by Cai as my DYCP access support worker. Cai's professionalism, reliability, and compassionate approach have significantly enhanced my approach to the DYCP application process entirely. Cai consistently demonstrates patience, respect, and a genuine commitment to my well-being. It is a privilege to work with someone of such high integrity and dedication.
