Bath glass business plans new artisan café

Metro Mayor Dan Norris in a glass blowing factory

West of England Mayor Dan Norris heated up the recovery of tourism in Bath as he tried his hand at glass blowing yesterday (22 June).

Independent glass production company, Bath Aqua Glass, has received a cash injection from the West of England Combined Authority that Mayor Norris leads.

The Metro Mayor tried his hand at blowing a glass vase while Bath Aqua Glass owner Adrian Dolan explained how the grant will be used to create an artisan licensed café in the glass blowing centre. This will help boost the number of people visiting and enable their team to link up with other artists.

The Metro Mayor was also shown a range of the beautiful bespoke products that local skilled craftspeople make including glass pendants, paperweights and penguins.

Metro Mayor Dan Norris said: “Glass blowing is a lot harder than it looks! It’s a true craft and certainly an experience visitors won’t forget. Bath is already a must see for many tourists to the West of England, but it’s important to keep continuing to improve the experience for everyone.”

Owner of Bath Aqua Glass Adrian Dolan said: “Bath is well known for its attractions like the Roman Baths, the Circus and Bath Abbey, but there’s so much more on offer to visitors than just the historic sights. The funding we’ve received will help us draw more people in to take-part in our workshops, providing hands on memorable experiences.”
