Audit Committee seeks independent lay member

The West of England Combined Authority is looking for an independent lay member for its Audit Committee.

The Audit Committee is made up of 12 members; 11 are councillors from Bath & North East Somerset Council, Bristol City Council and South Gloucestershire Council, but it as part of a commitment to strong governance the Combined Authority is seeking an independent member.

The role is voluntary but reasonable expenses will be paid. The Committee meets up to four times a year, and on an ‘exception’ basis as required.

Applications are invited from individuals with suitable professional experience, preferably either as a member of a Board or another Audit Committee or working at a senior level in their organisation.

The role of the Audit Committee is to provide independent assurance to the Combined Authority on its governance, internal control and risk management arrangements and to oversee the statutory financial reporting process.

The closing date for applications is December 15.
