The Combined Authority was set up in 2017 to make decisions and investments that benefit people living and working in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

Together, our aim is to deliver economic growth for the region and address some of our challenges, such as productivity and skills, housing and transport.

We're currently working on our new regional strategy, which we'll be ready to share soon.

Why are we updating our regional strategy?

The West of England is a fantastic place, full of innovative ideas, great places to live and work and diverse communities. To help our region continue to build on its strengths and address challenges that are holding us back – we are refreshing our regional strategy.

Since our last regional strategy in 2019, we have faced a global pandemic, economic downturn and a cost-of-living crisis. The response of the region to these challenges has demonstrated the strength of the people, services and organisations that call the West of England home. But these challenges have also highlighted that there is more we could and should do to strengthen our economic resilience.

To inform the strategy refresh, we have updated our economic evidence base, and want to ask input from people and organisations right across the region to help us understand if there is other evidence which we should use to inform the regional strategy refresh. We would also like to hear from you if there are specific ideas you have for action that the region should take to build on our strengths and address our challenges. Have your say now.
